The best keep secret in the Great Lakes State is the Tunnel of Trees Road in northern Michigan. Motorcyclists start in the town of Harbor Springs on Little Traverse Bay, ending in Cross Village after 22 miles of narrow yet scenic roadway. The trail follows Michigan State Route 119 – otherwise known as North Lake Shore Drive – along Lake Michigan’s eastern shore. Stop in Cross Village for lunch and shopping, or continue your trek north to Wilderness State Park. This ride is a treasure throughout the year, but best experienced in the fall.
Head back to your starting point after twisting your way down the Tunnel of Trees Road, and check into the Best Western hotel in Harbor Springs. If you want to extend your journey, head further south and rest up at the Best Western hotel in Petoskey.
Follow these Michigan roads on iron horseback for an unforgettable adventure. The Blue Star Memorial Ride is over 100 miles of motorcycle path, taking you from New Buffalo to Grand Haven along I-94 East and I-196 North.

Visit Lake Michigan Beach, or stop for lunch as you roar through River Bluff Park in Saugatuck. Maybe even check out the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland. End your journey in Grand Haven – just west of Grand Rapids – and check out Grand Haven State Park while you're in town.
After you reach the city, turn around and do the whole thing again on your way back to New Buffalo, or take a break at the Best Western hotel in Grand Haven. Need to pull over along the way?
