Baraga County Historical Museum
The museum contains many exhibits from the local county, including a lumber camp of the 1800's, impressive rock and mineral collection and Indian displays. Everything from prehistoric to present day artifacts (including Bishop Baraga) in our collection. We also have information on the logging and the railroads in our area from years past. Baraga State Park
This State Park offers lots of activities within the park include. Some of these are horseshoes; hiking a 3/4-mile trail through the woods; swimming; children's playground and picnicking. Other activities include golf, bowling and boating/canoeing. Several waterfalls are found in Baraga County. Accessibility to theses falls ranges from easy to difficult. Fine hiking trails in the area provide visitors with the opportunity to catch sight of wildlife such as whitetail deer, porcupine, bear and moose. Birdwatchers will find a wide variety of species in the area ranging from robins and eagles to gulls, ducks, geese and swans. Call 906-353-6558 for more information.

Bishop Baraga Monument
The monument marks the exact location where Bishop Baraga chose to build his famous mission. The Bishop Baraga Memorial is also in the Assinins Cemetery, one and one-quarter miles north of Assinins. The Shrine is a life-size statue of Father Baraga as a lasting memorial to him. Call 906-524-7444 for more information.

Festival on Ice

Keweenaw Bay Pow-Wow
