Grand Haven Lighthouses
Established in 1839, two lights on the south pier, both painted red, are connected by a lighted catwalk that also connects them to the shore and the Boardwalk. The inner light is cylindrical and the square outer light stands on a huge concrete foundation. On pleasant days, people stroll the boardwalk that borders the Grand River channel and the pier. The U.S. Coast Guard Station-Grand Haven is responsible for maintaining this light and 15 lighthouses on the West Michigan lakeshore. Call 616-842-0700 for more information.
Grand Haven State Park
Michigan's #1 State Park, AAA's preferred beach in the state, beachside camping. Located on Lake Michigan on Harbor Drive in Grand Haven. Watch for the beach condition flag, green for its OK to swim, yellow means be cautious of strong winds and waves, and red means the strong winds, waves, and undertow make it unsafe to swim.
