COSI Toledo
COSI Toledo is at jct. Summit and Adams sts. on the riverfront at 1 Discovery Way; parking is at Adams and Superior sts. The hands-on science learning center allows visitors to ride a high wire cycle above the atrium, design a roller coaster and apply aerodynamics to create the perfect baseball pitch. Michigan Firehouse Museum
Michigan Firehouse Museum is at 110 W. Cross St. Housed in an 1898 fire station, the museum contains exhibits about firefighting, which include equipment and a number of antique vehicles. Allow 30 minutes minimum. Call (734) 547-0663 for more information.

Museum of Art
Located on the University of Michigan campus. More than 18,000 objects representing key art schools and movements from African, Asian and Western traditions comprise the collection. Works by many of the great masters can be seen. Highlights include paintings by James Abbott McNeill Whistler and Pablo Picasso as well as Congolese sculpture and East Asian paintings and ceramics. CLOSURE INFORMATION: Due to an expansion and restoration project, the museum is temporarily closed. It is expected to reopen early 2009. A temporary gallery, UMMA Off/Site, is at 1301 S. River Raisin Battlefield Visitor Center
River Raisin Battlefield Visitor Center is off I-75 exit 14 to 1403 E. Elm Ave. Displays depict the Battle of the River Raisin, one of the largest engagements of the War of 1812. Exhibits include dioramas, fiber-optic maps and mannequins. A 15-minute auditorium presentation explains the major turning points of that war. Toledo Zoo
The Toledo Zoo is 3 mi. s.w. on SR 25. Among the zoo's 62 acres are more than 700 species of mammals, birds and reptiles. An African Savanna area features animals in their natural habitat. The Hippoquarium features an underwater view of a hippopotamus family. Kingdom of the Apes is a 17,000-square-foot gorilla meadow with an interpretive center offering hands-on exhibits. Also featured are exhibits of Siberian tigers, Asian sloth bears and African wild dogs.
