SS Keewatin
SS Keewatin is moored off CR A2 (Blue Star Hwy.) at the Kalamazoo River s. of the Saugatuck-Douglas Bridge. One of the last of the classic steamships, it was built in Scotland in 1907 for the Canadian Pacific Railway's upper Great Lakes passenger route. Now a marine museum, the 350-foot coal-burning vessel is maintained and preserved as it was during its 57 years of service on the lakes. The museum can be seen by guided 45-minute tours. Veldheer Tulip Gardens
Veldheer Tulip Gardens is 3 mi. n. on US 31 at Quincy St. On display are more than 275 varieties of tulips and daffodils in a setting of windmills, drawbridges and canals. The main flowering season, with 15 acres of blooms, is late April to early May. A wide selection of bulbs and flowering plants replaces the tulips for the remainder of the year.
